Start /End Posts

Installation Guide | Swift Engineering Ltd

Every run starts with these posts. Installing start / end posts please ensure the pre-welded tubes point in the direction of the fencing as indicated. As with all fence posts these posts should be knocked into the ground so that the top of the thrust plate is below ground level giving you your bottom rail dimension. This will give the correct measurement from the ground to the bottom rail on the fence. In soft soil it may be advised to use post mix for start / end posts.

Middle Posts

Installation Guide | Swift Engineering Ltd

Once start posts have been installed, as with all posts the middle posts (posts with only pre punched holes and no tubes) are placed every 1000mm (one metre). Between a six-metre run there are five middle posts.

Securing middle posts

For fencing with round 'lower' rails there will be pre-welded small securing choler's on each middle post which are tapped M8. For flat rails lower rail there will be a tapped securing plate which you can use to tighten the mid post into place once you are happy with the position of the post.

Support Posts

Installation Guide | Swift Engineering Ltd

Support posts are normally placed every six metres as the sixth post. Unless for example you have a run of four meters then you may wish to place a support post at the four-metre point. Once these posts have been installed the rails can then be slid through and tightened into place using the 8mm grub screws provided. Please also note that in some cases if support posts are being installed into soft ground you may need to use post mix to fix this post in and give the fence more strength.

Flat bar style fencing

When installing flat bar style fencing support posts are still placed at the six metre point however the lower flat rails bolt onto each other rather than bolt onto the post itself (see picture). This allows for ease of installation. You will be required to cut the rails to length on your last section. You will then have to drill through the rails and fix onto the final posts.

Railings

For most fencing projects your rails will be supplied in 6000mm (6metres) lengths unless you have requested different sizes for your project. For flat bar style fencing, the 25x6mm flat bar rails will be around 6100mm-6200mm however the round top rails will still be at 6000mm and this is the rail which must be attached to each support post every six metres. The flat bar rails will slide through the post by around 150mm and will attach to the next flat bar as per picture above. You must make sure the support post is at the six metre point and picks up with the top round rail at all times.

Please remember if you are collecting you must collect in a vehicle suitable to carry these lengths.

For weights of projects please ask for details should you wish to collect.
